Joel Taffet Joel Taffet was born and raised in Port Washington New York. He attended George Washington University in Washington DC. After college he worked fourteen years in the art business - first in New York City and then Baltimore Maryland. In 2002 he became manager for the Owings Mills location of Paradise Books. In mid-2004 he took over that location and operated it as Hart Books until mid 2005. In the fall of 2005 he opened Newtown Books in the Brookside Commons shopping center. His goal for Newtown Books, was, beyond simply surviving in a climate very hostile to independent bookstores, to both promote reading and the concept of the beloved community in Owings Mills. Joel closed Newtown Books in December 2006 because of a lack of patronage. Outside reading Mr. Taffet´s interests and previous pursuits have included art, photography, history, politics, cooking, baseball, motor racing, computers, and architecture. |
